This play will take some pressure off you as a D and keep the puck out of your own zone.  This play happens when a puck gets chipped past you and you must go back to it.  You are under pressure, and your goal is to chip the puck back into the NZ to trap the offensive player offside Call it the "BLUE LINE RULE"
