High-pressure retrievals like this are one of the biggest challenges for young defencemen.

We need to do a better job teaching early contact and how to absorb/carry pressure.

Too many breakout drills are route-based and don’t reflect reality, adding bump options and quick releases makes it way more game-like.

I always build our breakout drills off D-zone coverage, not just set routes. Win the puck first, and the breakout takes care of itself. Great post
