Minnesota Wild Morning Skate: Change Angle Shooting - Off a Pass

This is a great pre-practice warm-up drill or post-practice skills drill that is super beneficial for both players and goalies. 

Description

Change Angle Shooting - Off a Pass

  • Players line up along the boards outside of the blueline
  • Player skates into the zone, receives cross ice pass from coach
  • After reception, the player changes the angle and shoots on the goalie
  • Progression: Move obstacle closer to net and/or remove obstacle and add 2nd goalie to act as a screen/obstacle (Green Goalie)

Key Points

  • Heads up on reception
  • Goalie: Focus on tracking puck cross ice and repositioning with angle change
