Hand Eye plays around the net seem to go up every year. There are more goals that are batted in from the top of the crease combined with deflections. This is something that can be worked on in practice with players to ensure that when they get a chance in a game, it ends up in the back of the net.
When working on this, have players just knock the puck first so they get a good feel for hitting it. The idea is to not hit a home run, but to make solid contact with minimal arm movement. The motion comes from the wrists and allows players to hit the puck toward the net.
When players get good at this, they become better net front players as they have a chance on every puck!
