5v5 full-icegame

Key Rule:  When the puck crosses the Blue line, into the OZ, then the Red line is “closed”, so any player behind the Red line is stuck there until the play returns

(for kids of the right age, you can call this game Phantom Menace, when Obiwan gets trapped behind the laser door while Quigon is fight Darth Maul)

  • no 2-line passes allowed
  • no dumping the puck out or in

Optional Rules:

  • O team can unlock their players by taking the puck behind the net, to encourage getting deep in the zone.
  • D team can unlock their players by completing at least one pass
  • Instead of being trapped, players caught behind the red line do 5 push ups before they can cross the red line and rejoin the play

Key lessons:

  • encourages faster transition back on D
  • encourages O team to sprint up ice to stay in the attack
