This drill is designed to use body positioning and stick control to prevent the puck from entering the gate.

SET UP:

Place 2 tires in each face off circle, to the outside of the dot, closest to the boards.  Distance can be closer or further away depending on age level and skill.

2 players enter and face one of the "gates" with the puck.  2 others line up behind them.

RUN IT:

On the whistle, one of the first pair must skate down around the tires, then turn and head towards their partner and gate.

The attacking pair can pass to each other, but must slide the puck into the gate, NO SHOOTING - saucer passes only.

The defense should use body positioning and stick control to block the gate and gain possession.

Once possession is changed, the roles reverse, the puck must be cleared behind their own gate before engaging the attack.

If the puck exits the area, the coach will send a new one.

45 - 60 second shifts, then switch.

NOTES:

This can be altered to be a 1 vs 1, or an odd man rush.

The distances can be increased or decreased, and obstacles can be added to increase the challenge.
