O.T. Tips:

Overtime is a totally different game than 5vs5. The players' Hockey IQ has really improved, we can see it with the U20 World final.

Two keys priority points when your team plays with the puck:

1 - Possession game:

  • Allows you to make your line changes ( the USA took care to keep possession in order to make the trio change just before scoring the last goal of the tournament).
  • Do not hesitate to go back, get out of the O-Zone if the space is not good enough. This allows you to keep possession and come back with more speed.

2 - Speed:

  • The defensive game in O.T. is based on men to men, if you beat your man you create an excess of players in a zone. You have a good chance of creating offense. Finnish players have good mobility in N-Zone with a drop pass to attack the O-Zone with the speed. Unfortunately for them, the USA also picked up a lot of speed and scored the goal that ended the game.
