This 1v1 + support drill starts with a 50/50 race into the corner, with the coach spotting pucks from the top of the circle and two lines set up in an “L” formation. The offensive player’s job is to protect and maintain possession, while the defender works to create separation and win inside positioning. The key teaching point is that the defender isn’t always trying to take the puck, it's about disrupting and freeing it up so the second player can arrive and recover it. Once he does, they pass to the coach and the next 3 players go.
Great drill and really breaks down your support of the 2nd player and layers in the dzone!
