On the Built From Steel Podcast, Coach Andy Paquette and I cover everything from parent, player, and coaching focused topics. Sometimes its technical - skill breakdowns, positional plays, systems, statistics and studies - and other times we are more into the philosophical discussions. I personally find the philosophical areas most interesting to talk about because we can really get into some key questions all coaches should reflect on.
To name a few:
Why do we coach?
What's the goal in youth hockey?
What lessons can be taught?
What values do we want to build our program around?
Our last two episodes I particularly enjoyed becuase we ventered into this space a bit. If you're like us and enjoy hearing other perspectives and a more long-term vision of what the game can bring players, parents, and coaches alike, check it out:
