Minnesota Wild Morning Skate: Transition Warm Up
This is a great warm-up drill with a variety of progressions.
Description
- Part 1 (in Black) - Two D set up just below each blueline. Two X from opposite corners leave at the same time and pass to the D (who are in motion gapping up). The X skate down the wall and pivot, receive the puck back from the D and go in for a shot. Play continues from the opposite corners. The D can rotate out with other players at the coaches discretion.
- Part 2 (in Green) - Same as part 1, except the X swing in the middle and receive the pass on the opposite side of the ice.
- Part 3 - Two D set up just below each blueline. Two X from opposite corners leave at the same time and pass to the D (who are in motion gapping up). The X skate down the wall and pivot, receive the puck back from the. An additional X is added to create a 2on0. Coach can play defense to create 2on1 at blueline. (In Green) D follows up into the ozone. One of the X picks up new puck in corner and passes to point for a 2nd shot. Two new D step in and pattern continues. One side shown. Drill happens in both directions simultaneously.
