Ever wonder how elite defensemen turn a low to high into a high-danger scoring play? Here’s how it’s done step by step with Euro Elite Hockey and Brad Hunt.

1️ Pick Up on Strong Side – D-man collects the low pass → up to the blue line on his forehand side, and touches it in the skating direction, keeping his feet moving and eyes up.

2️ The first touch in open space creates time & space against pressure.

3️ Underhandling Precision – Limited touches with the puck = quicker decisions, less telegraphing, and more deception.

4️ Middle Lane Sprint – Attack the center lane hard! A moving defenseman shooting from the middle is way more dangerous than a static blue line shot.

Key Focus: Smooth transition off the wall + clean underhandling = speed, deception, and higher % scoring chances.

A defenseman who can turn a rim into offence changes the game.
