This drill really makes the skaters focus on their passing and accuracy. It can be done as a beginner drill - slow and direct. It can be an intermediate drill, where working on speed and accuracy is developing. It can be an advanced drill to work on those light touches at a fast pace.
The right side of the ice shows the drill where each of the 3 skaters needs to be in each step. The left hand side shows the entire drill as it evolves.
SET IT UP
Place 3 obstacles in a row down or across the ice. Tires are good, tall cones can obstruct views, or using a stick handling tool and making them pass under it makes for an extreme drill.
F1 and F3 start behind the first cone, and F2 starts at the opposite end.
RUN IT:
F1 passes to F2
F2 goes around the cone and passes to F1 who skates to the middle obstacle.
F1 gives it right back to F2
F2 passes it to F3.
F1 becomes 2 (as above), F3 becomes 1 (as above) and the drill is a continuous loop.
