Designed to be a continuous flowing drill, it uses the active players to create a screen and chaos during the drill in a passive sense.

SET IT UP:

  • Split the players evenly into the zone face off circles.
  • Coach collects pucks at the top of the zone, at the blue line, or further into the neutral zone (space allowed)

RUN IT:

  • On the whistle, both lines send a skater to the goal line.  As the cross they come to a solid stop.
  • Skaters then turn out along the wall and head back out into the zone, with the coach passing a puck into one side to the skater.
  • Both players go to the top of the zone before turning back in, and the skater with the puck passes to the other skater, who then heads in for a shot.
  • Regardless of the goal, block, or trap from the goalie, the play is over as soon as the puck is released.
  • Skaters go to the opposite face-off circle and the next 2 should already be moving to continue the drill.
  • Once all skaters have shot from one side, reverse the drill and go from the other side.

NOTES:

  • Variations include placing a defender in the slot, creating a 2 on 1
  • The initial puck handler can pass higher out of the slot and then become the defender, going with a 1 on 1
