Continuous Cycling not only works on passing and receiving, but gets the players to work on maneuvering in the offensive zone to get open and make plays happen.

SET IT UP:

Line up skaters in groups of 4 at the blue line, in a stack.

Coach gets next to the stack with the pucks.

RUN IT:

On the Whistle, F1 heads to the corner while the coach dumps the puck in.  F1 picks it up, skates out with the puck to the bottom of the face off circle, and F1 dumps the puck against the wall.  F1 continues into the neutral zone and gets in the back of stack.

F2 follows in behind F1 and after the dump, F2 picks up the puck, skates into the slot and takes the shot.   F2 then heads into the opposite corner and retrieves the puck from the Coaches' dump, skates up with the puck before dumping it to the wall.

F3 follows in behind F2 and after the dump, F3 picks up the puck, skates into the slot and takes the shot.   F3 then heads into the opposite corner and retrieves the puck from the Coaches' dump, skates up with the puck before dumping it to the wall. ***

F4 then drops in as F1 and the drill repeats.

NOTES:

*** you can stop the drill here and reset if you do not wish to make this a continuous drill with all of your players.  It works well if you can use your 3 forwards from the same line and allow them to work together.

You can also let the stack act as the passers into the drill, rather than the coach, allowing them to work on their accuracy and direction on the pass in.
