The Winnipeg Jets had an impressive start to the season, playing with intensity and cohesion. If you've caught their games, whether on TV or in person, you can see that they are fully committed to their systems and are putting in tremendous effort. I used the Jets as an example for my U13 AA girl's hockey team. For those coaching youth hockey, it's common to observe your center moving up above the circles when their defense have the puck. With three players positioned high, a single pass down low can easily result in an odd-man rush below the faceoff circles. Here’s a drill to make your team tougher to score against.
3v3 Shooting Gallary
3v3 shooting gallary is a Dzone low coverage drill
Everytime the puck goes outside of the dots, the red team must pass it to the point. Once the puck goes to the point, the Center and Defencemen plays man on man like they would in a game. Once the shot is taken, you continue to play your "low ice" coverage until the puck is moved to the outside of the dots, and then once again the offensive team passes up to the D.
