The 3 players fill lanes as the puck carrier drives wide, the middle lane drive goes hard to the back post and the 3rd player stays wide on the dot lane to create separation and force the defenders to make decisions!

Here’s a great clip from the Coachella Valley Firebirds executing a perfect D Squeeze scenario at the blue line. Strong side defenseman pressures the puck carrier at the blue line, weak side defender closes his gap on the net driving forward. Once that pass is attempted in to the middle, the weak side defenseman quickly meets the puck with his stick and blows the play up causing a turnover. Great skill and teaching point for players to learn!
