We’re thrilled to announce four new additions to the TCS Live line-up, headlined by the winningest coach in U Sports history, Gardiner MacDougall. Joining coach MacDougall is John O’Sullivan, leadership expert and Founder of Changing the Game Project, Mike McGinnis Manager of Player Development for Hockey Alberta, and Tara Watchorn, former Canadian Olympian and current Head Coach for BU’s Women’s Hockey team.

Gardiner MacDougall is in his 24th season (2023-24) at the helm of UNB’s men’s hockey team, one of Canada’s most successful university hockey programs.
The REDS have won eight of their nine Canadian championships under MacDougall’s guidance. (2023, 2019, 2017, 2016, 2013, 2011, 2009, 2007). He is the all-time Atlantic Conference leader in total wins, including regular season and playoff victories. He is top five in all-time U SPORTS victories and 1st all-time in Canadian university hockey history in national championship tournament wins (34), surpassing legends and former NHL coaches Tom Watt and Clare Drake.
Tara Watchorn is the Head Coach of the Boston University women’s team. She is the first alumna of the BU women’s program to serve as a Division I head hockey coach. Watchorn played at BU from 2008-12 and went on to serve as an Assistant Coach for the program for four seasons. Watchorn enjoyed an 11-year playing career for Team Canada as a defender, appearing in 46 games in international competition, and earned three IIHF Women’s World Championship silver medals (2011, 2015, 2016) and two gold medals at the 4 Nations Cup (2013, 2014) in addition to an Olympic gold in 2014. She remains active with Hockey Canada as an assistant coach, most recently winning gold at the 2023 U-18 World Championship.
Mike McGinnis is a student of the game and loves to study hockey’s finer and often overlooked details in an attempt to create clarity. His personal approach utilizes video examples coupled with descriptive language and game like training scenarios. Through his various roles, including Coach Development with Hockey Alberta and Skill Instructor for Hockey Canada, McGinnis is on the ice with more than 500 athletes annually, which has been instrumental in applying and experimenting with learned techniques.
John is the Founder of Changing the Game Project and author of three bestselling books on coaching, parenting, and being a great teammate. His podcast, Way of Champions, is one of the top rated coaching podcasts in the world, and he has consulted for organizations across the globe including USA Hockey, US Soccer, USA Football, Ireland Rugby, Aussie Rules Football, and the USOPC.
