O-Zone Faceoff Concepts

You get a whistle. You call for a timeout. Ref gives it to you. The pressure is on for you to draw up a faceoff to win the game.

No sweat, I've got one for you.

The key to this is that it is actually not a movie, and the players need to know what this faceoff looks like before it gets drawn up. This should be a staple either in a gameday skate or a system based practice. All 5 players need to know their responsibility on an win AND a loss.

Win- everything goes smooth and the below works like a charm and the crowd goes wild.

Loss- we need intense puck pursuit and a weakside winger cutting off an escape.

 Go win the game, coach!

 O-Zone Faceoff

WIN: Win back to Strong side winger, who quick passes to weak side D and cuts to net for one time option.

C ties up and boxes out C

Weak Side wing loops and becomes cycle option in strong side corner.

LOSS: C drops off into F3 Hold

Weakside winger gets to far post to take away D to D option.

Strong side winger forechecks puck into our forecheck.

D both slide to strong side.
