One of the hardest things for a coach to learn is when NOT to coach.
As coaches, we want to help. We want to correct mistakes and give players the answer. But sometimes, the best thing we can do is step back and let the player figure it out.
Let them make the mistake. Let them make the decision. Let them struggle a little.
Then ask questions:
What did you see?
What did you think was going to happen?
What could you have done differently?
We aren't coaching players so they can depend on us for every answer. We're coaching them so they can eventually make the right decisions without us.
The best coaches don't always say the most. Sometimes, they know when to let the game teach.
