Adrian Kempe has been regarded as one of the NHL's best skaters for years now, but in a recent game between the LA Kings and San Jose Sharks, youngster Macklin Celebrini demonstrates a little bit of appreciation by imitation.
The edgework demonstrated in this clip could be pulled straight from Daniel Broberg's course 7 Steps From Basic Skills to Smooth Power. Watch how Kempe enters the zone and executes a sharp cutback with his inside edge - often this is executed with the outside edge but Kempe changes direction quickly because of his posture, control, and ultimately, power. The resulting offensive zone time and eventual goal wouldn't be possible without the smooth skating Swede.
Not to be outdone, Celebrini recovers a puck later in the game and demonstrates quick agility of his own as he evades a check with a quick shift of his inside edge before burying the puck himself.
