It's that time of year again.

Excpectation's are high.

Players are excited to get back on the ice and get the season going.

Coaches and parents are all talking up their teams and goals for the season.

Then the puck drops and the season starts and ... well we all know what happens next!

.When a player is not getting the ice-time, or getting on speacialty teams, or playing on the "first or second line", the first question the player (or parent or agent) do is run to the coach and ask; "What do I need to do to get more ice-time?"

WRONG QUESTION!

More often than not, that question will NOT result in the outcome that either the player or the coach wants.

So if you're gonna ask it, be prepared to hear what you might not want to hear.

OR,

You can learn to ask better questions.

And those questions are ones that migfht save you and your career from a more awkward downward spiral because you didn't get the answer you expected.

More importantly these are questions you ask yourself first, before you run to the coach.

I have an ebook that has a list of 35 Questions in categories from Skill and Preparation to Effort to Mindset to Coachability and Hockey IQ. You can get the ebook from my website www.mindsetbodybank.com or access it here in a PDF.

Here are few of the questions for you to think about:

Game Simulation: How closely does my practice level mimic real game pressure and pace?

Preparation Routine: Am I following a consistent pre-practice and pre-game routine that optimizes my physical and mental readiness?

Consistency: Have I deleivered the same level of effort and focus in every shift, or do I have ups and downs in my play?

Work Ethic: Do I sustain high compete-level effort even when the score or situation is not in my favor?

Follow Through: How am I tracking progress on the adjustments I've commited to?

Fear of Failure: How can I reframe mistakes as learning opportunities?

Role Acceptance: What mindset shift would help me excel within the ice-time and role I have now?

Team Dynamics: In what ways can I be a better teammate?

Game Awareness: How quickly am I processing information - pinch opportunities, gap control, reading plays?

These are a sample of questions that you can find find in my ebook titled, Concerned Aboout Your Ice-time? Make Sure To Ask the Right Questions.
