"Greg “Boom” May is currently in his third season as the Associate Head Coach for the University of Minnesota Women’s Hockey Team and is also an Assistant Coach for the U18 USA Women’s National Team.
Prior to his time in the women’s game, May was the Head Coach at his alma mater, Augsburg University, for two seasons, where he led the Auggies to the NCAA Tournament in both seasons, guided them to the NCAA Frozen Four in 2022, a MIAC Regular Season Championship in 2022, and a MIAC Playoff Championship in 2023. He was also named MIAC Head Coach of the Year in 2022.
May returns to the University of Minnesota after spending the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons as the Director of Operations for the men’s hockey team. During his two years with the Gopher men, he was heavily involved in video and leadership.
A native of Burnsville, Minn., May spent 10 seasons at the high school level in Minnesota – three seasons as Head Boys Hockey Coach and Associate Director of Athletics at the Blake School (2016-2019), where he led the Bears to back-to-back IMAC Championships in 2017 and 2018, two seasons as Head Boys Hockey Coach at Farmington High School (2014-2016), leading the Tigers to the program’s first MSHSL Class AA state tournament appearance in 2016. May also spent time as an Assistant Coach at Burnsville High School and Mounds View High School.
