Turn and Pass helps players receive a pass while moving. Have players get their hands out in front of their body to receive the pass.

Description

Coach draws lines on the ice to designate starting point for the players and places 2 cones in front of the line and a cone near the top of the circle.

Players line up in the corner.

First player skates with a puck and turns around the first cone. They then make a pass to the next player in line.

Player keeps skating turning to the wall and receives a puck back.

The player then skates above the top cones and moves towards the net for a shot.

Once the first player receives the pass then the next player may go.

Key Points

Ensure players use proper passing technique:

  • Using heel of stick
  • Push and pull with hands
  • Follow through with bottom hand

Side puck handle:

  • Top hand out
  • Puck beside the players skates

Player should turn low in the drill to make sure return pass is easier to complete.

Encourage the players to receive the puck in front of their body.

Do drill in both directions.
