DRILLS & PRACTICE PLANS

Stationary Shooting - Wrist Shot

Stationary Shooting is a good drill that helps players to practice their shooting fundamentals. Reinforce a good weight transfer and follow through.

Description

Coach draws an X on the ice for each player to stand on.

Players stand on the X for spacing and practice taking shots at the boards.

Key Points

Work on wrist shot technique:

  • Weight transfer
  • Kinetic chain
  • Hands out
  • Follow through

Players should be in hockey stance to maximize efficiency.

Feet should be diagonal to the target to help with weight transfer.

Puck should start next to back foot (not in front of the body).
