Stationary Shooting - Changing Release Point



Stationary Shooting is a good drill that helps players to practice their shooting fundamentals. Challenge players to change their shooting angle for a deceptive release.

Description

Coach draws an X on the ice for each player to stand on.

Players stand on the X for spacing and practice taking shots at the boards.

Key Points

Work on shoot in stride technique:

  • Weight transfer
  • Kinetic chain
  • Hands out
  • Follow through

Players should be in hockey stance to maximize efficiency.

Feet should be facing the target.

Puck should start next to stick side foot (not in front of the body).
