DRILLS AND PRACTICE PLANS

Shadow Lateral Crossovers

Shadow Lateral Crossovers challenges players to work on their footwork and stops. Encourage players to compete and work hard to keep up.

Description

Coach places 2 cones per group of partners approximately 10 feet apart.

Players partner up and line up facing each other in the middle of their 2 cones.

1 player starts as the leader and one as the shadow.

On the whistle the leader uses lateral crossovers to move one side or the other staying in between their cones.

On the double whistle players stop and return to the middle, switching who will be the leader next round.

Key Points

Encourage players to bend their ankle and lean into their outside edge.

Use proper knee bend to increase pressure on outside edge of inner leg.

Drive knee over planted leg.

Have players focus on under push of crossover.

Make sure players are using different patterning and practicing both directions.
