Work on odd-man attacks off a quick neutral zone transition.

This hockey drill is from Canadian Coach Traugott who has 30+ years of experience working with every age group. The Miami 2v1 works on odd-man attacks off a quick neutral zone transition.

Description

Players leave one end at the same time. Coach places the puck for a quick transition and 2v1 back to the net. The key is to get the puck going the other way as quickly as possible with a quick bank pass off of the boards or a direct pass to the cutting attacker.

Key Points

  • Coach varies the placement of the puck and players react to it.
  • Call for each pass.
  • Smooth pivots by a player on the wall and always pivots with your eyes on the passer.
  • One pass maximum after the offensive blue line.
  • Drive to the net for rebounds.

Levels

Pro, Semi-Pro, 20-17, 16-15, 14-13, 12-11
