Small details help players become more efficient and faster with the puck, according to Alexandre Chénier, our Day 2 Global Skills Showcase presenter.
Chénier, the Founder of Hockey Developpement, is one of Canada's leading skills coaches and works alongside the top players and teams in Quebec. Chénier is also the Skills Coach for the CHL's Foreurs Val D'or and is actively involved with Canada’s National Women’s team. He has a lot of experience helping players of all levels optimize their game and one thing he noticed is that while passing is often emphasized by coaches, the focus is mainly on giving and not receiving. If a pass is received properly, however, players can make the most of their time with the puck.
During this 26-minute presentation, Chénier uses technical, tactical and team drills to demonstrate how coaches can teach the fine details of puck reception and improve their team's possession game.
