4 Cone Call Out is a great drill to challenge players stops. Help players stop and start in all directions.
Description
Coach draws a circle and then spreads 4 cones out about 10-15 feet apart. and repeats for a second group. Coach also indicates names for each cone per grouping (1,2,3,4 or North, East, South, West)
Players line up along the middle barriers and boards for their turn.
First player starts on the O in the middle of the cones.
The coach calls out a cone name and the player needs to stop on that cone and return to the O.
Coach repeats this 4-6 times then players change the participant and the drill starts over.
Key Points
Load edges with pressure by bending knees and dropping hips slightly.
Use both feet (inside and outside) when stopping.
Take off in the next direction by:
- Turning torso in the new trajectory
- Driving knee of outside foot
- Pushing off of inside foot (outside edge)
Challenge players to spray cone with snow.
