Richard Hechter is an educator and hockey coach based in Winnipeg. He grew up playing in the APHA community system and continues to coach within community hockey, while also working independently as the co-founder and head coach of Wheatland Hockey, an unaffiliated skills and development program. Through Wheatland, he has worked with over 1,200 youth players across a wide range of ages and abilities.
Coming to coaching through a background in education rather than elite playing experience, Richard focuses on learning design, clarity, and long-term player development. He is interested in how coaches can create environments that help players think, adapt, and grow with confidence
