I have been involved in hockey for over 25 years, taking on a variety of coaching and player development roles across youth, college, and adaptive hockey programs. I currently coach the Auburn University Women’s Hockey Team and help lead several grassroots efforts to grow the game in the Southeast, particularly in areas where hockey is still gaining a foothold. That includes starting girls’ teams, running veteran and special hockey programs, and organizing community street hockey events.
I work closely with players through team practices, individual sessions, and development camps, and I also enjoy supporting fellow coaches through clinics and shared learning opportunities. My coaching philosophy is rooted in educational psychology, with a strong focus on motivation, confidence-building, and long-term development both on and off the ice.
My primary interest lies in coaching education and development. I apply learning theories such as self-determination theory, adult learning theory, and self-regulated learning to create more effective coach education experiences. I aim to design coach development environments that promote reflection, autonomy, and continuous improvement by helping coaches become more adaptive, motivated, and learner-centered in their own practice.
