Zack Nowak joined USA Hockey as coordinator of coaching education program in April 2022.
Nowak joined the USA Hockey Staff with experience playing and coaching at Kent State University with the ACHA D1 program. Nowak joined the program playing goalie from 2010-2015. Upon graduation, Nowak began coaching with Kent State as the Assistant Coach. In 2019, Nowak was promoted to Head Coach of the ACHA D3 team in their inaugural season. After that season, Nowak moved up to be the Head Coach for the ACHA D1 team, where he has been coaching since 2021.
Since 2017, Nowak has volunteered as the goalie coach-in-chief for USA Hockey’s Mid-Am District, where he helped develop curriculum and research-based learning activities. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State and worked as an intervention specialist with Stow City Schools since 2019.
