Head Coach
Novi (MI-HS)
2024-06-01 - Present
I'm currently heading into my third season with the team and it's been an absolute blast. Our strength of schedule allows myself and staff to attract high end talent within our school every year. Being in such a high polluted hockey hot bed - this proves to be a battle every year. We run our hockey operations all year long in some capacity and this allows for our players to have resources within arm's reach to assist them in their development and journey in reaching their goals.
Head Coach
Farmington (MI-HS)
2021-06-01 - 2024-06-01
These three years were truly transformational for me as a coach. After a year off due to the pandemic and taking a step away, I feel the time away from the rink brought a new perspective and a fresh start as I re-built a HS program alongside my coaching staff and leaders on the team. Each year we increased our roster's depth chart exponentially and improved on our record each season from the previous season. Many of our athletes earned state recognition in academics and all state and league honors.
Head Coach
Detroit Compuware - 05's
2019-04-01 - 2020-04-01
This season was cut short by the Covid-19 Pandemic, however we started the year early on the road. We began our season in Colorado, Illinois, and Tennessee. Champions of the Silver Stick Invitational and District Finalist, many of our players transitioned from this year's group and made the transition to 15O and HS Varsity rosters smoothly.
Head Coach
Detroit Belle Tire - 06's
2018-06-01 - 2019-04-01
This was a year of adversity, I was promoted to head coach mid-way through the season. For many of our athletes, this was their first season of AAA hockey. In Michigan we played the top teams in our State, Illinois, and Ontario regularly. Every night was a battle and every practice was an opportunity to get better. Many of my athletes this season went on to have impressive hockey careers including draft picks from the OHL, USHL, NAHL, and NCAA commitments.
Head Coach
Ann Arbor FGR - Varsity (MI-HS)
2017-06-01 - 2018-06-01
This was my first full-season head coaching position and it was an adjustment from the landscape of AA/AAA hockey that I came from. During this season, I learned first hand what it takes to run a high school program from all areas such as budgeting, collaboratinging alongside the school staff and arena management while also managing the hockey side of things and developing players to compete at a high level. We were Catholic League Champions this season.
Assistant Coach
Detroit Little Caesars - 04's
2015-04-01 - 2015-08-01
Assisted former coach and mentor Derek Langlois (4x National Championship Coach) this spring, training some of the top 2004's in the state while competing in both Michigan and Ontario. Players included Frank Nazar, Gavin Hayes, Zach Filak, and Ryan Abraham.
Assistant Coach
Detroit Compuware - 02's
2013-08-01 - 2017-08-01
4 years highlighted by player development and advancement. 2016 State Champions (MI), 2014,15 Bauer Invitational. These 4 years coaching under my father's (Gordie Lietz) direction and guidance allowed me the time to transition from player to coach and grow in my development as a younger coach at the time.
