
The purpose of this drill is to work on the fast, tape to tape passing that occurs before you enter the offensive zone. It also allows the defense to work on pushing the offense to the outside as they enter the zone.
SET UP
Line up two offensive side lines at the goal line.
Defensive pairings set up in the DZ with a goalie.
1 cone set up in the lower end of the slot, near the hashmarks.
RUN IT
F1 skates out and around the closer Neutral Zone faceoff dot, turns back gets a one-time pass from F2.
F1 immediately passes the puck back to F2.
F2 passes across to F3, while F1 drops into the slot, makes a turn around the cone, and heads into NZ with F3 who has the puck.
D1 and D2 attempt to engage IN THE NZ and FORCE TO THE OUTSIDE of the dots, while ensuing a 2 v 2 battle on the way in.
