I recently connected with Paul Ferri and Louis Rojas through our BioSteel network and was fortunate enough to have them both on this week’s Built From Steel Podcast.
Paul is a strength coach and founder of Limitless Training Systems. He’s worked with the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets and is currently the Director of Performance with the Niagara IceDogs in the OHL.
Louis spent over 10 years as a strength coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs and has worked with athletes across a variety of sports at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels.
What stood out to me was just how much alignment there was in our coaching philosophies. Different backgrounds and experiences, but a lot of consistency in how we approach athlete development.
We had a great discussion about what separates successful professional athletes, how strength and performance training should evolve throughout adolescence, and where families often go wrong when trying to accelerate development.
I think there's a lot of value in hearing these perspectives from people who have spent years working at the highest levels of sport, especially when the messaging is so consistent with what we try to reinforce in youth hockey.
Different voices delivering a consistent, high-quality message.
