Tight Turn to Acceleration helps players transition into crossovers out of turns. Players should be using proper hockey stance to ensure maximum efficiency when changing directions.
Description
Coach sets 2 cones staggered on the wall side of the line and places a third cone near the top of the circle.
Coach has pucks just off the face-off dot.
Players line up on the face-off dot going towards the end boards.
First player in line leaves and skates above the first cone, they then perform a tight turn towards the corner.
The player then skates below the second cone and performs a tight turn towards the top barriers. As the player performs the second turn they then accelerated out of the turn using their crossovers.
The players tries to use crossovers to go above the third cone and then move towards the net.
The coach sets a puck for the players as they come around the cone and they shoot.
Player then returns to line.
Once the first player gets past the second cone the next player in line may go.
