Today's plan is inspired by two recent TCS collaborators, Brian Slugocki and Brandon Naurato. The idea is to slow down and be purposeful with our shot selection. Standing still and shooting at goalies while working on push vs. pull shots (straight from Brandon's course Mastering Shot Selection) might seem dull, but the players love it. Focus on one thing and you'll be amazed how quickly that one thing develops.
I added in some zone entry work to progress on recent practices with another simple but effective drill from my boy Brian Slugocki. These progressions allow players to feel the puck and where they place it before they shoot it - that's the key, the shot placement. It's not where the puck goes after it leaves the stick, it's where the player puts it relative to their feet before they shoot.
