Go ahead and choose a team in the NHL. Any team. Or an NCAA team. Or a junior team, pro team, or your local beer league team, and chances are you'll see the best players creating offence with the aid of their outside edge. These clips mirror the message from Victor Kraatz in his course Building the Foundation of Skating.
In these clips we see the Carolina Hurricanes mastering their edges to create offence. Watch Andrei Svechnikov first flex his inside egde before shifting to his outside edge to get a quick shot off. Then we've got Seth Jarvis crossing over on his outside edge to create space before finishing a set powerplay faceoff, and finally Jarvis again lowering his shoulder and protecting the puck on his outside edge.
The outside edge can be tricky to introduce to your players, let alone master, but Kraatz has simple tricks to start with before you add speed and power.
