Puck Touch Warm Up Sequence

Most of us are nearing the end of our season and we are all in the final prep for playoffs, state or provincals.  Finding how are teams click in practice is a fun process to learn and this warm up sequence has become a staple for our Bismarck Bantam AA. By this time of the year I can line up the pucks on the blue lines and we can bang this out in a matter of 10-15 minutes with kids getting a ton of reps and puck touches so they can feel the puck before we get into our drills.

When I am designing drills, I like to keep in mind puck placement on drills so I am not having to move pucks all around the rink. I love sequences like this so there is little to no puck movement and we can roll from one drill to the next quickly and effectively.

Here is my favorite warm up sequence to get a ton of puck touches and get our team feeling good before a weekend set of games.

MN Wild Quick Feet - This one is for our goalies. Make sure players are shooting from top of the circles. Add the pass in for the long lines once you get more familiar with the drill.

Swedish 5 Pass - Love this one for getting a lot of puck touches. These should all be one touch passes, no dusting the puck. If you have a more advanced group, try to get 9 passes, 4 extra in the middle. I tried this with my Bantam AA team and it was a struggle, but if we stuck with it, like any drill, they would improve.

Get Up & Go 7 Touch - More one touch passes. On this one, be careful with the timing. If one pass is messed up, the other line could be ahead of the other, so being vocal in this drill is a must to help our players.
