There's never a bad time to go back to the foundation of posture.

The forwards one foot glide Victor Kraatz and his students demonstrate here is a sneaky good way to instill proper habits. The best part is that these are usually tougher for older, more advanced players to learn. Older players are more comfortable so they're naturally going to try and cheat the drill.

Not if you have anything to say about it!

There's not much a player can do with their skates to overcome the lack of a solid base. A player might have strong legs and perfect balance, but if their limbs don't return underneath them or re-load then they're just losing efficiency. No efficiency, no power. No power? No speed. Victor Kraatz's course Building the Foundation of Skating is a clinic in consistent efficiency.

Here's a practice plan that uses skills from Kraatz's course before adding pucks and other game-related scenarios.
