The University of Michigan is the best team in college hockey. They check, they defend, and they score goals.

And we have their head coach, Brandon Naurato, here to help you teach your players how to score goals. The timing has never been better!

The first thing most hockey players do when they hit the ice is grab a puck and rip it two feet over the net. The second thing they do is usually the same as the first thing.

In Brandon Naurato's course Mastering Pro Shot Selection & Goal Scoring, the central theme is choosing the right shot for the right moment. So if there's no goalie and it's early in the morning on a Sunday in January, yeah, shoot over the net, sure. But if you're streaking down the right wing wall over the blue line in a game and you have a defender applying heavy side pressure, what then? Push shot? Or a pull? Or dump and change?

Brandon's course takes its time to master the mechanics of shots off the carry and shots off the pass. In this practice plan players spend time standing still to practice proper mechanics in the hands, feet, and arms. They then progress to simple movements before pressure is applied. It's a sequence of drills you can do at any age and at any time of the season and you're likely to see big results.

Check out the entire course here.
