As Luke Strand mentioned in his on-ice presentation at TCS Live Minnesota in September '25, young hockey players have been brainwashed to play 1on1 at all times. They don't use their teammates enough when they have possession of the puck. Same applies when they're defending.
Here's a series of drills I used at practice to highlight some skating techniques we've been working on wwhile also trying to brainwash the players into the opposite issue: using their teammates often. Let the puck do the work.
