Over the summer we collaborated with University of Michigan Head Coach Brandon Naurato on a course designed to take thinking away when shooting the puck. Brandon's worked with his players for years on shot selection, specifically after receicing a pass or after carrying the puck, such as on a zone entry.
Check out Mastering Pro Shot Selection & Goal Scoring.
One of our subjects for the course: Nick Blankenburg, who's enjoying a solid season on the blue line with the Nashville Predators. Nick is averaging between 3 and 4 shots per game, which is an impressive total. In the clips above you can see how relaxed he looks under pressure on the point. He's shooting through triangles, he's pushing the puck, he's pulling and shooting. These focus elements are all covered in Brandon's course, so it's pretty neat to see them in action in the best league on Earth.
Keep it up Nick!
