Honouring Chris Snow, friend of The Coaches Site

We are deeply saddened by the news about Chris Snow, husband, father, Calgary Flames VP of Data and Analytics and former TCS Live presenter.

We at The Coaches Site are deeply saddened by the news that Chris Snow, Calgary Flames Vice-President of Data and Analytics and former TCS Live presenter, suffered a “catastrophic” brain injury and is not expected to recover.

Snow, who has publicly battled ALS since 2019, became unresponsive and suffered a heart attack earlier this week, according to his wife Kelsie. Snow suffered a brain injury due to a lack of oxygen and doctors do not expect him to wake up from the injury.

Snow took part in our TCS Live Coaching Conference in 2014 and we still reference his talk internally. He understood almost a decade ago that analytics play a role in almost every decision made at the professional level and that their importance would only increase as the use of analytics and collection of data became more prominent and available at all levels of hockey. In his presentation, Snow discusses how analytics are used to make better informed coaching decisions, how to capture relevant data and process it with limited resources, and how analytics can help you communicate clearly with your players.

In honour Snow’s love of hockey, analytics and sports in general, we’ve unlocked his presentation so you can hear from this brilliant mind.

Our thoughts are with Kelsie and the couple’s two children Cohen and Willa.

If you have the ability to help in the fight against ALS, donate to the Calgary Flames Foundation to directly fund ALS research and new treatments at the most progressive institutes across Canada.
