In episode 325 of the Glass and Out Podcast we welcome a very special guest: Hockey Hall of Famer Ray Bourque.
As one of the greatest defenceman in hockey history Bourque needs no introduction. His list of accomplishments includes five Norris trophies, 19 NHL All-Star appearances, two Canada Cups, plus he's the all-time leader in points in Boston Bruins franchise history and of course, the last moment of his distinguished career was spent lifting the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche.
Why is he joining a coaching podcast? Well, Bourque is currently getting set for his second season as Head Coach of 3Ice Boston. 3Ice is an eight team league which plays exclusively in an OT or 3 on 3 format. Games consist of two 8 minute halves and it is electric.
You can learn more about the league here.
As a bonus on today's episode we sit down with E.J Johnston, Founder and CEO of 3Ice, to learn more about the league, how it started, how they have designed the rules to create end to end action, and what it has in store for the future.
Listen as he and Bourque share the philosophy for coaching 3v3, how to create offence through a focus on defence, and the importance of always staying humble.
