DRILLS AND PRACTICE PLANS

Chalk Talk: Pure Chaos

Who doesn't love a little chaos in practice? No one, that's who. Bring a little mayhem to practice to keep your players thinking and moving with this drill from Northville High School's Ryan Ossenmacher.

Description

  • Players are lined up on two neutral zone faceoff dots.
  • Players start with keepaway with their own team on their half of the ice.
  • Different amounts of players are released from line.
  • On the whistle, coaches announces release one - which means one player from one team attacks opposing team to clear their puck.

Key Points

  • Scan the ice with possession of the puck, know who's open.
  • Keep eyes up and edges connected to the ice to maximize agility and dynamic movement.
  • Force your players to perceive what's happening around them.
