5 on 4 - keeping it below the blue line

So this is to mimic the puck coming into the offensive zone on the Power Play, and trying to work to keep it in the zone.

It is designed to help the Offensive Team D-Men get into place, work on getting those passes high and to the top, then working it around to the shooters in the slot, or taking the shot themselves.

SET UP

Begin with the defending team and goalie set in their zone.  Good time to work on how you want to set your Penalty Kill formation and to get the goalie to communicate their vision or blocked vision, to the defense.

The offense sets up around the zone, with the F1 holding the puck below the goal line in the corner.

RUN IT

The puck gets sent out, using the walls to force control issues.  Defending team gives light pressure to make sure the puck is kept to the outside, and to force the offense to work on keeping the puck in the OZ, below the blue line.

Once the puck is sent back down into the zone, the play emerges into a 5 on 4.
